Contenuto: The volume collects the contributions of the international conference “Explaining art with words” held at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in March 2021 to present the results of the work on the formulation of a multilingual (Italian, German, Hungarian, Latvian, English) dictionary of artistic terms of Painting, Sculpture and Art Graphics. The dictionary focuses on some theoretical terms and on the most used operational vocabulary in the workshops of the institutions belonging to the EU4ART alliance, a pilot project for the creation of a European University of Fine Arts, funded by the European Community.

Beatrice Peria is an art historian specialized in modern art and Professor of History of Art at the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome. She is also Coordinator in the EU4ART project.

Marco Rinaldi is professor of History of Art and History of Design at the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome. Author of papers, essays and books about 20th Century art, architecture and design, he is Coordinator in the EU4ART project and expert valuator of National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes.
